Completed during the Summer of 2013, my internship with the Conferences and Scheduling Department of Longwood University gave me a firsthand insight to event planning. This internship gave me the opportunity to co-manage a group of 9 associates and assist in the hosting of over 10 conferences that visited the Longwood campus. By holding the title of Quality Control Coordinator, I spent the summer creating detailed daily schedules that gave an hour by hour scheduling of what the summer team needed to complete in order for each day of the conferences to run smoothly. Other tasks that I took on were the preparations and setups that needed to be completed for every conference, as well as the take-downs at the end of every conference. While manually completing these jobs with the team, I also added these tasks into the daily task lists. Attached below is an example of the many daily task lists that I created over the course of two months:

This internship gave me many opportunities to thrive in the event planning and customer service area. Working through internal conflicts with other coworkers as well as external conflicts with guests, I was able to put my communication conflict skills to the test and seemingly pass with flying colors.
